El Rafa`s Cafe in San Antonio

We had to wait about 5/10 minutes while seated at the table before the waitress asked for our drinks .

My neighbor suggested this place, said they have the best flour tortillas. She is right! The cheese in the breakfast tacos looks like grated WIC cheese (grew up on the stuff) and I think regular cheese would be better. Our waitress and the staff was so kind

Do not let the outside fool you! This is a San Antonio treasure! Coming from both Tex Mex and authentic Mexican cuisine enthusiast, thier recipes are delish! They have a wide variety of Mexican entrees so tasty and rich that I wanted to lick my plate. Thier service was also catering and fast. The inside decor will make you forget what the outside looks like and if you love authentic Mexican food you will go back for more. Highly suggested. Prices are excellent for the quantities recieved.

Food was alright it could have been better for the money I spent no chips and salsa you have to pay to get them. Oh well it is what it is, at least I can say been there done that

I spend alot of money here however they have been slacking. I bought a carne guisada taco and there was no meat just hard fat

Now I remember why I stopped going there. They over charge you. So if you do go ask for a different cashier cause the one there always over charges you. All I can say is ask for a copy of the bill.

I like it. tortillas are homemade. tacos are big and full. good lunch special that comes with the tea. sometimes short wait to be seated mostly on weekends.

I love this place! They are very generous with the portion size and the hospitality! Well worth the price and friendly staff! They never let your drink go below halfway! I would live and laugh as if I could!

I ordered the mexican plate and a taco of carne a la mex., the rice was under cooked (a guaranteed crunch with every bite) and the meat for the carne a la mex. tasted gamey. Enchiladas & Tortillas were great! Service was good. Atmosphere o.k.

Had huevos rancheros for dinner. Spot on and freshly made tortillas. Definitely returning.

Good food, large tacos, great carne guisada and if you are hungry try the Rafas plate. Good prices too. I have tried all their food and all is good. Other then the tortillas are better during breakfast and lunch, my opinion. Enjoy. Awesome wait staff too, but they do get busy.

Had to clean our own table.filthy with rag still on table, dirty.had to wait to place an order .they dont serve no salsa with chips. We had to ask for hot sauce with our meal and we got Ranchero sauce,but once we got our meal the food itself was good.

Can take up to 30 mins for just 4 simple tacos, even when order was called in ahead of time. Plus when we got our food, food was cold. This place used to be the sh*t when I was a kid though. That was like 12 years ago. I think the only reason I'd come here is for the tacos since they're pretty well loaded for only 2$ a piece.

When you see a full parking lot for a small mexican restaurant, that's always a good indicator of great food. I had the pork chop plate but I think I will try their chalupa plate next time as they were Best of the Best in 2019.

One of my favorite Mexican food places. Can get busy on weekend, especially with the after church crowd. My favorite salsa and tortillas in town. Order the rafas special: great selection and big portions.

Poor service and expensive food. Where order enchiladas plate and got child's plate.

It's delicious. I love their kind of enchiladas with the velvety cheese. My new favorite picadillo and bean&cheese tacos ever.

The food is soooooo good! The portions are huge & prices are reasonable. They have free refills on their coffee & it really wakes you up.

Never had fries with my huevos rancheros or a fries and egg taco.

Phenomenal food and service for a great price--great neighborhood brunch spot! Parking can be a little tricky, so be prepared.

Great food. Breakfast is always on point. Same with lunch/dinner. Order the Rafas plate with some of the best carne guisada in town.

I've come with my best friend. We always enjoy eating here. I've yet to come here and the restaurant is dirty or the staff being rude because its busy or having a bad day. The only thing is parking can be tricky because sometimes it is busy. But the food is pretty good. For "me" it is a neat little place to come have breakfast or lunch. The pricing isn't too bad. Its "normal" for what you'd expect to pay

Just ate there for the first time. I loved the food, y'all have to try the brisket it is absolutely delicious. The owner & staff are very friendly.

The gorditas looked fried. The picadillo in the gorditas was good. I am no so sure about the yellow shredded cheese on top. I asked for an agua fresca not powder lemonade. Reason why I am not giving them one more star. The service is decent. The place can use more parking spaces.
